It helps to include your macOS version, your Caddy Docs version (the Caddy logo in the menu bar, then Settings, then General), and what you were doing when it went wrong. A screenshot is worth a paragraph.
Where is Caddy Docs after I install it?
Caddy Docs sits in the Dock and in the menu bar under its monochrome Caddy logo, and on the edges of your screen as colored tabs. Click the Dock icon to add a Caddy. Click a colored tab to open that Caddy, and click it again to close the drawer.
Caddy welcomes you with a short introduction and a click-through tutorial. You can play them again from Caddy in the menu bar.
Can I read PDFs and Word documents in a Caddy?
Yes. PDFs and Word documents open inside a Caddy, beside your notes. You can also pop a document out into its own window; the arrow brings it back into the Caddy. HTML pages open in their own reader.
Does Caddy Docs move or change my files?
No. Caddy reads your files where they already live. It does not copy or change them. Your documents, folders and notes stay together in the Caddy for that assignment, ready when you open it again.
How do I search inside a Caddy?
Use Find in this Caddy: type a word and press Return. Caddy searches document titles and the words on the pages. Press Return again to move to the next match across the documents in that Caddy.
What happened to Caddy Collab?
Caddy Collab is retired in version 3.0. A Collab you started or joined stays on your Mac as a Caddy, but no longer syncs with anyone. To hand someone a whole Caddy as one file, use Send a Copy, which comes with Caddy Pro.
Which Macs can run Caddy Docs?
Caddy Docs requires macOS 15 or later. It is a Universal app, so it runs natively on Apple silicon and on Intel Macs.
